You would be better to just run the antenna out to the end and leave it
as that. Going back and forth may downgrade your reception. You would
have more wire out there, but no improvement in directivity. You can go
up and down somewhat, as I do it here. It still works as a beverage. But
even 300-500 feet can have decent directivity. Plus a BOG may show
better results using less wire.
