[IRCA] TP's for Apr 13
Things seemed to improve again this morning, with a definite peak between 1305 and 1310UT, though I listened for about 10 minutes either side. The upper band was pretty quiet except for HLAZ, and there were several Aussies in the mix. I continue to be surprised at the strength of some of the carriers such as Tahiti-738, HLCA-972, HLAZ-1566, all apparently undermodulated, and 1098 (presumed Marshall Islands) which leaves its carrier on after sign off. 1053 has been strong also the last few mornings, but hearing any modulation seems difficult; maybe the jammer is taking a rest, but still pumping out the big carrier?
Asiatic unless otherwise noted:
pretty darn good audio (at least briefly): 774 (NHK-2)
reasonable audios (though often battling w/splash): 828 (NHK2), 972 (Korea) best heard here in awhile
not so reasonable audio, occasional words in splash or noise: 567 didn't seem //594, so don't think it was NHK1, but no Aussie parallel either; 594 (NHK-1), 702 (2BL //612), 738 (2NR //702 around 1320UT) 1116 DU, first heard in a long while, 1242 seemed to be Japanese, however
Burbles in the splatter and noise: 612 (4QR), 837 (NHK1 and ?; heard pips at 1300, but something else there too), 747 (NHK2), 954 and 1134, both likely Japan, 1206 likely China with its telltale hum with a man talking underneath. 1566 all carrier, not much modulation.
Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 738 DU, 1053
Given the lack of other Chinese, receptions, and the fact that 1206 isn't that common here, I'm a little surprised at how regular this one has become the last little while. It can't be called readable, but it's had a reasonably beefy signal.
best wishes,
Nick
