[IRCA] Unusual reception on 28 March
Sorry for the delayed posting, but I was tied up yesterday.
I spent a couple of hours at the dials on Friday night, and found
condtions most unusual. Reception of southern stations (AZ, NV, NM)
seemed to be enhanced, typical of auroral conditions, and there seemed
to be a black cloud over Utah, as I was hearing nothing from there.
Even KSL, which is super-dominant here, was pretty much missing.
Instead, I was hearing Chicago's WYLL clearly, with KHPP's oldies in the
background. Tuning around I noticed the WI and IL stations also
seemed to be enhanced for some reason (definitely not typical of auroral
conditions). Before the night was out I'd added 3 new stations to the
log, including 2 in Indiana (1260 WNDE and 1280 WGBF), doubling my
Indiana total in one night. The three new ones also pushed my total
stations heard to 1500, so that was a night to remember.
