Get this 40 watt relay of CBWK-FM (carries CBC Radio 1 network) before
it is too late:). Manitoba is on Central time so CBC network programming
on CBDS-690 will be generally two hours ahead of CBU-690.
I wonder what the CBDS xmitter site is contaminated with? PCBs from
an ancient leaking oil capacitor in the xmitter?
Probably diesel fuel or heating oil from the tank farm or the under
ground oil distribution system in the late 70s. Limited electrical
power was provided by diesel generators until the community was
connected to the Manitoba Hydro grid about 25 years ago. Apparently
one major leak was discovered when a visitor walking from the school
to a nearby teacher`s residence and found himself walking through
puddles of fuel. It ran overland to one or more sewer inlets
resulting in inches of fuel on the sewage lagoon some of which was
pumped off and filtered for reuse. Some of the contaminated fuel
collected was also spread on the roads to help control dust.
