A storm of such intensity would likely dampen any propagation on AM and
we'd likely be left with groundwave and noise. The classic auroral
conditions we used to experience in the 1970's and 80's are much less
frequent now, partly because we've been at sunspot minimum. It'd take
an a upwards of 50 over a couple of days to produce those kinds of conditions.
