I have already replied to these on other lists, but FYI:
PWBR is out of date by the time it`s printed. Online listings, e.g. VOA`s own
language schedule, show VOA Botswana 4930 now opening at 1400. Nice long-path
catch.
Certainly Mauritania on 4845; not always active, and modulation has been low
lately. Near the extreme western tip of Africa, it holds up later than any
other 60m African. At 16 degrees west longitude, 0800 UT = about 6:30 am local
mean time, so in winter it propagates well past 0800.

Re:
March 10, 2008 I was scanning the 60 meter tropical
band at 1500 UTC and came across a VOA Botswana
broadcast on 4930 kHz in English. It faded out or went
off the air at 1630 UTC. According to Passport they
show this broadcast as coming from Botswana but at
1600 until 1730 UTC. Like wise WRTH shows VOA BBG
Botswana on 4930 kHz but with no times of broadcast.
Best reception was with the 90 degree EWE antenna (EWE
directions available 30, 90, 120, 240, 300 degrees)
with a signal level of S8-9, with a Chinese Military
CW beacon (8PNX)in the background. The Marconi T
antenna gave a signal level of S4-5 with the CW beacon
faintly there.
March 16, 2008 while scanning the 60 meter Tropical
Band I got a pretty strong signal on 4845 kHz
at 0620 UTC. Heard Arabic Prayers until 0630 UTC then
ID and news. French and sometimes Arabic news and
commentary until 0655 UTC. S9+10 to +20 with 30
degree EWE. Still going at 0800 UTC with S9 signal,
Arabic style music. Looks like this maybe Radio
Mauritania, Nouakchotts but not confirmed. This is
pretty late for African DX. Have 7 minute digital
recording of it on file.
