[IRCA] Good News re Eton E1!

I purchased an new Eton E1 in August of '06. I have
been very happy with the radio. The radio performed
admirably at Grayland last year. It is the best
overall performing portable radio I have owned and I
have owned many. Recently the E1 developed display
problems. I called Eton to check on a recall issue
which I had recently learned about. I found out that
the recall issue had already been resolved in my radio
before I bought it. While speaking to the Eton rep, I
mentioned that my E1 had developed a display problem.
Even though the 1 year warranty had expired by one
month, the Eton representative stated "That's close
enough" and authorized full no cost repairs to the E1.
I was obviously very pleased. I sent the radio to
Drake in Ohio and the radio returned good as new in
about two weeks. The display problem was fixed and
Drake conducted a full function test on the radio.

My hat's off to Eton for going "the extra mile" when
they weren't obligated to. My hat's also off to Drake
for the quality work and quick turnaround on the
repair.

I just thought that credit should go where credit's
due. These are, INMHO, a couple of great companies to
do business with. They make great radios, too! I also
have a Drake R8-A, another great unit.

In this day and age of diminishing customer support,
what a refreshing experience!
