[IRCA] NY Times story on Colorado Rockies / KOA

greetings,

a story in the NY Times entitled Enshrining the Rockies as the Unofficial
Team of the Wide-Open Spaces contains reference to listening to KOA from as
far away as Texas (this past summer). . . which I gather is more difficult
now in the IBOC era. Maybe someone who can speak directly to this
deterioration of reception thanks to IBOC from 840 & 860 wants to contact
the writer?

story starts as below

DENVER, Oct. 17 — This is where the Colorado
Rockies<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/sports/baseball/majorleague/coloradorockies/index.html?inline=nyt-org>play
baseball as the home team, at least in the flesh.
Fans celebrated after the Rockies' victory on Monday that propelled them
into their first World Series.

But through the magic of radio they are also the home team five hours away
in Chadron, Neb., over a 1,000-watt radio station, KCSR, that Linda Wineteer
tunes in to for almost every game.

The Chadron station carries the Rockies play-by-play up into South Dakota as
well, at least until about sundown, when the signal strength starts to fade.
That's when John Soderquist, another diehard Rockies fan, turns to KOA, a
50,000-watt station in Denver. KOA can be picked up at night all the way
into Texas, said Mr. Soderquist, who listened to a Rockies game from there
this summer while traveling.
