While trolling for high school football cheaters last evening, I can't say
the presence of post-sunset IBOC made much of a difference. The only IBOC
noise I noted was a slight hiss under WJR-760, presumably from WABC-770.
WLS-890 IBOC didn't cream the Yankees game on WCBS-880. If WTAM-1100 was
running IBOC, I didn't notice any hash on 1090 or 1110. Fortunately none of
the Buffalo or Niagara Falls, NY stations are using IBOC, so I don't have
any IBOC groundwavers such as WGR-550 or WBEN-930 to deal with. At least
not yet.
Can hardly wait for CFRB to get complaints from outside the Toronto city
limits that they're getting hammered by IBOC crud from WMVP-1000 or
KDKA-1020. I've said it before, folks.. AM IBOC is a digital dinosaur right
out of the box. It will fail and fail miserably by the turn of the decade.
The few people who still listen to AM for ethnic programs, sports, Disney,
Limbaugh or Jesus don't need alleged "CD quality" or "HD". It's a fix for a
problem that doesn't exist. It's THE MARKET! ALMOST NO ONE IS BUYING THE
IBOC RADIOS! At some point, the suits at iBquity will have to get that into
their collective thick skulls.
