Mike,
The Astoria TIS on 1650 is located up on a telephone pole with the whip
going up from the tx box. It is off the ground far enough and right on
the highway going into Astoria that stealing it would be very hard to
do. Their ground system goes right into Youngs Bay so they get out very
well. The Seaside 1650 is also up on a telephone pole next to a private
RV/Camp ground a mile South on Seaside. Both run non stop NOAA Radio
generally, but emergency messages can be inserted if needed like highway
constructions, high water across the highways, etc. There is a large
network of these stations going down the coasts, another at Tillamook,
Lincoln City, Newport, Florence, Reesdport, Coos Bay, and Bandon.
