Yes, our soil is rather salty. No doubts there. Infact in the Winter
when we have standing water out in the field, I have  tasted it. It is
briney, but not near as much as ocean water. But I have always felt I
have an under-toe to the ocean, being less than a mile from the shore.
The copper piping seems to hold up much better than the copperclad stuff
though. I have never had much luck with the copperclad rods lasting.
   Radials are a pain to bury, so I have only used bare #12 connecting
wire between the ground rods in a circle around the tree in the back, or
rod to rod like in the case of the SW EWE. Burying radials is not an
option by the Spruce tree at the SW EWE, too many surface roots.
But I do need a good ground system here with any of my antennas I have
tried and boy when I get the ground set up in, they do sing. I was
amazed with the signal I got last night from XEW-900. I have not heard
them that strong for a number of years, but again my grounds were
getting worse and worse too.
   You should have seen the 8-foot ground rod for the power service in
the backyard when that was replaced a couple years back. I think that
rod was in the ground since the 70s (at least), and it was rusted out to
the point where there was less that 4 feet of rusty rod still in the
ground. They replaced the service with two new 8 foot rods placed
several feet apart. My noise level went down 50% at least too. The noise
level already is low here.
