No I haven't had that issue. But I have inspected the soldered
connections on occasion. I unwrap the tape and look, maybe check the
connection with an ohm meter if in doubt. It is looks not good, I have
cut it out and replaced it, but that is generally after the wire has
been out there for many years. In some cases if there is a lot of "pull"
on a connection, I will run double wire to that connection and solder
two wires, so there is always a good connection. But generally if I can
get the wire hot enough, I get a good solder connection that lasts for a
long time.  Like you, I do not like a connection that is not soldered.
Right now I have two of those. I plan to take care of those this Summer.
One is at the base of my SW EWE, 100 feet away and the second is 450
feet down the beverage. That is one I will need the butane or a UPS to
run the soldering gun. The SW EWE, I have enough cords to get the gun
over to that area now. Of course any soldered connection, I really well
tape them up, so moisture does not reach the connection. That helps too.
I am picky on that.
