Update on local TIS stations
530 WPBX496 OR, Astoria, still silent and has been for 3-4 years.
This was was operated by the City of Astoria. (PM-OR)
1610 WPAX543 OR, Hammond, operated for a number of years by ODOT
with Marine info, but a very weak signal. Noted on the air last Fall,
but after the State of WA put theirs on, operated by the USCG at Cape
Disappointment (Ilwaco) with a good 10 watt signal, the QRM was bad. The
Hammond TIS is off the air. I would guess because of the QRM. At the
Hammond Boat Basin this afternoon, while doing a job, the Cape
Disappointment TIS was quite strong. Not local like, but strong enough
to copy the signal 100% easily with Marine reports on the van radio. I
would guess the Hammond one was no longer needed. (PM-OR)
1610 ...... OR, Elsie, I noted on another job while out at Elsie,
the 1610 there is an open carrier as it has been for months. (PM-OR)
1650 WPZQ660 OR, Astoria, still strong running NOAA weather
reports with 10 watts. (PM-OR)
1650 WPZQ660 OR, Seaside, still there, but noted with open
carrier of late.
(PM-OR)
