PLEASE read the [IRCA] mailing list guidelines at http://www.ircaonline.org/guidelines.htm
When K-BIG AM first went on the air -- back in the late 1950's -- the only Studio was in Avalon -- on the Island. The Morning DJ -- Robert Q. Lewis (who later did What's my line and other TV shows) had to fly into work from Long Beach each morning. If he was late -- because of weather , etc, K-BIG AM would not sign on the air -- until someone got to Avalon. About 1962 -- an STL link and double hop from Avalon to Long Beach (Signal Hill) and onto Los Angeles -- was built. The signal is Directional -- more towards Orange County -- then to LA.
