My first experience with high voltage power lines was as a kid driving to Lake Tahoe with my parents and having the signal from KSFO 560 fade out briefly was we drove under the power lines in the Vacaville-Dixon area.
I would look at those huge towers and imagine what kind of an antenna one could string between those towers.  Next time I drive out to the Columbian
river gorge will look for those DC lines.
