That is about what I had expected to see. A 1,000 watt amateur radio
amplifier is $3,000-4,000 and they typically don't run the full duty cycle
as a broadcaster would.
The other "wowzer" is the cost of electricity as most amps typically use
twice as much electricity as what their power ratings state, a 50 kw amp
uses 100 kw of electricity (not very efficient are they?).
