If DXers don't want to be taken seriously by the FCC, letters like this 
are a great way to make sure that happens.

I'm not sure where your claim about FM IBOC is coming from, but it's 
simply not true. With an indoor wire dipole antenna (the sort that's 
long been a standard accessory with a home FM receiver, and is now being 
shipped with HD radios such as the BA Recepter and the Accurian), FM HD 
is good about to the 60 dBu contour. That's 25 or 30 miles for a class B 
FM, 12-15 miles for a class A.

With a rooftop antenna, I can easily hear FM HD from a class A signal 
about 30 miles out (WISY 102.3), and from a B about 50 miles away (WLKK 
107.7).

Real-world Boston example that Bob should be able to relate to: with the 
BA Recepter and a cheap pair of TV rabbit ears, I had no trouble a year 
or so ago in hearing then-WKLB 99.5 Lowell MA in HD from Newton (Waban), 
MA, in the shadow of the TV towers. Keith McGinnis and Jeff Lehmann can 
vouch for that; they were there and heard it.

Point is, the FCC, for all its many flaws, does not respond well to 
alarmism, especially when it's demonstrably not in keeping with the facts.

ään kun monilla kuuntelijoilla on mahdollisuus tehdä kuulemistaan asemista mp3-tiedostoja ja laittaa niitä nettiin, niin tuota mahdollisuutta soisi käytettävän mahdollisimman paljon. Itse ainakin olen kokenut harrastetta rikastuttavana tekijänä sen, että voi kuunteluttaa kollegoilla ja välillä jopa natiiveilla kuulemiaan asemia. Itse olen raportitkin tehnyt jo useita vuosia niin, että laitan ääninäytteen nettiin ja kirjoitan raporttiin URLin, josta asemalla voidaan käydä sen kuuntelemassa. Ainakin ULA-puolella, joka on minulle tutumpi, audioklipit kiertävät kesäisin netissä taajaan. Ja varmaan AM-puolellakin. Tämähän on juuri sitä DX-yhteisöllisyyttä parhaimmaillaan, jota tälläkin listalla voitaisiin enemmän harrastaa. Ehkä jopa SDXL voisi tarjoja palvelua, jonka kautta kuuntelijat voisivat laittaa kuulemiaan asemia muiden kuunneltavaksi, elleivät pysty audiotiedostoja laittamaan omille sivuilleen. OLL:n yhteydessä paikka olisi luonnollisin, mutta yksinkertaisimmillaan palvelu voisi olla esim. tietyssä www-osoitteessa näkyvä hakemisto, johon voisi siirtää audiotiedostoja sovitulla FTP-tunnuksella.
