Finally, checking in, trying to make sense of my scrawls and recordings.
According to the propagation monitor, there was a pronounced sunrise
peak around 1415 UT (local sunrise to the moment), on all monitored
channels, including 1548 which rarely shows anything through the
splash, but monitoring was done off and on from about 1250 through 1430UT.
Some wild stuff....if there was an ID at 1300UT, on 1206, I probably
just missed it (still trying to make sense of the recording), one of
the stronger signals on the band at that time. Conditions were the
best on the upper band that they've been for awhile, though that just
meant hearing 1566 and 1593 comfortably; still not earth
shattering. Strangest was a blast of what to my untrained ear
sounded like Tagalog on 1116, then buried by splatter, but briefly quite good.
Good audio though usually fighting with splash : 747, 774, 828
(x2?), 972, 1017JJ, 1044CC, 1116 (who?) 1206CC, 1242 JJ, 1566,
1593 (plus 711 w/mx; carrier wasn't strong though; does somebody
overmodulate here?)
The occasional word allowing possible language recognition, but
mostly splash: 567JJ, 603 ?, 612 (Aussie), 639, 693 JJ, 873, 945,
963, 972, 1125 not NHK, 1143, 1278, 1386, 1575
Burbles in the splatter: 558, 738, 756, 846, 855 hum, 918, 927, 936,
954, 981, 1008, 1035, 1161, 1179, 1188, 1224, 1287, 1314, 1323, 1467,
1475, 1476 x 2 (hum), 1512
strong carrier, no audio: 864
Sort of like "rabbit in the headlights" DXing....just didn't know
which way to turn to try to find IDs or parallels...
best wishes,
Nick
