Re: [IRCA] Palstar MW550P

Hi Dennis,

I had mixed results with the MW550P. Initially the circuit was noisy when
used at home, and I had to send it back to the factory. Upon return it was
better, but still had a bit of noise. On Grayland DXpeditions, away from
local MW powerhouses, the MW550P was quiet with no discernable circuit
noise. After a while I began to notice that selectivity in the lower 100+
kHz or so of medium wave was practically nonexistent. I ended up selling the
MW550P, and using a couple of custom lowpass filters for my application, at
far lower cost than the Palstar unit.

I don't know if my MW550P was unique or not with the lack of performance
from ~650 kHz downwards, especially in the 530-570 kHz range. Has any other
MW550P owner experienced this?
