[IRCA] Applications for three new AM stations in Montreal Quebec (650, 1400, 1410)



Applications have been submitted to the CRTC for three new AM radio
stations in Montreal Quebec, as detailed below. They are for a
graveyarder on 1400 (1kW), a station on 1410 (10kW) and a station
on 650 (5.8 kW). Of course the applications for 1400 are 1410 are
mutually exclusive.

Application No. 2006-0214-5

Application by Radio Humsafar Inc. for a licence to operate an AM
commercial (ethnic radio) programming undertaking in Montréal.

The new station would operate on frequency 1,400 kHz (Class C)
with a transmitter power of 1,000 watts day-time and night-time.

By condition of licence, the applicant proposes to direct ethnic
programming to a minimum of 8 cultural groups in a minimum of 7
different languages per broadcast week.

This application is technically mutually exclusive with an  
application by
S. S. TV Inc. (2006-1567-7) which will also be heard at this hearing.

(ethnic radio) programming undertaking in Montréal.

The new station would operate on frequency 1,410 kHz (Class B) with a
transmitter power of 10,000 watts day-time and night-time.

By condition of licence, the applicant proposes to direct ethnic
programming to a minimum of 13 cultural groups in a minimum of 12
different languages per broadcast week.

This application is technically mutually exclusive with an application
by Radio Humsafar Inc. (2006-0214-5) which will also be heard at this  
hearing.

Application by Gospel Media Communications, for a licence to operate a
French-language AM commercial radio programming undertaking in Montréal.

The new station would operate on frequency 650 kHz (Class B) with a
transmitter power of 5,800 watts day-time and night time.

The applicant proposes to offer a christian music service.
It also plans to offer some religious spoken word programing.
