UPI 2/25/07:
A Greenville (NC) man is being held by Abbeville Police in the explosion
of a Abbeville (SC) radio station. Mr. Charles A Taylor, 60 years old, was
found hiding nearby in a ravine after the transmitter of Radio WABV,
Abbeville, South Carolina, exploded in a tremendous flash that levelled
homes within a radius of five miles of the station. The explosion occurred in
the early morning of February 24, at about 3 a.m.
Mr. Taylor confessed to causing the explosion. When interviewed by a
reporter for the Abbeville Fishwrapper, Mr. Taylor reported said: "This was
first DX test by a radio station that I stayed up for in twenty years, and when
I found out it had occurred the night before.....something snapped in my
head!"
Mr. Taylor is being held on $500,000 bond.
