When TVs came out it became more difficult and less
fun to listen to AM radio since the video circiuts and
tube guns created a series of whistles whicn varied in
tone at certain AM frequencies. Some AM freqs had very
audible whistles while other were so high pitched that
they were not audible, and some were almost inaudible
at the low pitch end and they sounded like a low
hum.New video equipment might make less whistle or
whine but they are not totally free of noise producing
components. The amount of noise depends on the distance
between the TV and the AM receiver. To eliminate any
noise from a TV would require max distance and maybe
the radio running on batteries since the AC line of
the radio transfers a lot of noise from other
appliances and from wiring in general.Bill in Vic,BC
