[IRCA] Comcast broadband

Last weekend bought one of those $10.00 crystal radio kits.  Used the white wire for the antenna and the green wire supplied for the ground, nothing.
Connected the green ground wire to the Comcast broadband jack (ground) that is on the wall and 4 stations were heard.  Guess my ground system needs some work?  My house is wired for cable; the broadband modem is two feet from the receivers and doesn't create any problems.
