Don Curtino & IRCA Hunters of the 1610 Chimera -
ARRL Handbooks of years gone by, when O-scopes were big and procto-scopes
weren't needed, featured revealing graphic full-body shots of "The
Modulation
Envelope" for SSB & other sigs.
1 Pic = 10 K/Words.
Scope shots tella tale. Busta 1 kc tone onna carrier, two 1 kc pips appear
symetrically about it, at least this what it looks like to my literally
jaundiced eyes, glass and otherwise.
Back inna 50's - mid60's, "The Great Debate" re SSB vs AM raged on. Lotta
pix
& narrative describing pros/cons as well as appearance onna scopes, both O
&
spectrum analyzer.
Anyone gotta spare Polarad display? Were there any justice, every household
would be issued one, compleat w/tuning heads.
All seriousness, once you see off-screen scope photos, you know it
instinctively.
