[IRCA] Electronically steerable receive antenna

In the December issue of QST magazine I noticed an ad for a company
called DX Engineering. They are marketing a compact electronically
steerable system of four ground mounted vertical antennas that looks
very interesting. It is called the Four-Square Receiving System. They
claim performance comparable to a Beverage plus rejection of high angle
signals that is superior to EWE, Flag, Pennant, or K9AY arrays. The
system is targeted to the ham market. But the ads claim operation from
100 kHz to 30 MHz. They say that it is "like having a rotatable Beverage
antenna". It does not require radials or any special ground system.
Basic cost is $1,325. Their web site is at www.DXEngineering.com. There
is also a user comment page at www.eham.net/reviews/detail/5336.
