Re: [IRCA] Daves' HQ 180

Bob,

I went through that for years with different deisign engineers about an
outboard noise blanker, including my friend Chuck Boehnke. The problem
is, to design something like that, would cost $$$$$$, and with few tube
receivers out there these days, they could not be mass produced enough
to lower the cost. A person might be looking at $1000 to get an
outboard one. I even talked to a couple engineers at Drake about that.
Building one for tube gear is a bit different than solidstate
unfortunately. I finally gave up and went to solidstate radios and sold
my SP 600. Living a few feet from an electric fence I need a noise
blanker. The one in the R8 works like a charm. The ones in the SPR4 and
R1000 aren't quite as good, but still do a dandy job. Hearing "click"
every second is not fun. Yes, you can DX with the clicking but it drives
you nuts.
