[IRCA] Morning TPs, Sept 8

Having read many of the other reports already, I'm surprised that my
morning wasn't better! It was a good Asian morning and I had to quit
before the bitter end, so I probably missed a few DUs (all I heard
was 531, 612 in low audio and the same for 675, likely
Christchurch). The Asians were here alright, but not quite as good
as yesterday morning, over-all. I will say, though, that this was the
best morning yet for the traditional Japanese and Korean Big
Guns. Japan 747, 774, and 828 were about as strong as I've ever
heard them here and 873, Kumamoto was right in there, too. The
Korean strong ones were 1205.96, the CNR KK Service; 756, the KBS
station with a phone-in women's program, 972 and 1566 (HUGE!) The
other really strong signal.... well over S-9... was the CNR Russian
Service on 963... also huge!

What seemed missing for me was a good crop of Chinese.... they were
just not there "like they should be." This might have been balanced
by more than the usual number of signals from the Koreas.

The differences between Patrick and I are sometimes quite strong. He
listed 1134 Japan, a station that I hear regularly, as quite
strong. I did not even have a het.... and I was looking for
it! Patrick had both Fiji and China in audio on 639. I had a
stronger het than usual. Yet, we both noted the traditional JJ and
KK Big Guns as unusually strong. Hummmmmmm.

Off channels noted: 657 was low, 855 was low as usual, 1017 has an
on-channel and low, 1062 was on channel and another at 1061.93,
1106.97, 1205.96, 1251 and 1250.97, 1404 and 1403.95, 1584 and
1584.08. I sure wish that the Japanese MWavers were interested in MW Offsets!

Bill Harms... I have more difficulty IDing Korean at low levels than
most other languages that I hear regularly. I was trying to record
what I think was the KK on 1017 for sending to you this morning and I
had an equipment malfunction. *&^&*$$# computers!
