Well, Lynn would just as soon stay out of it, as they're certainly
radio-related and I've yet to see any nasty flames one way or the other, just
plenty of polite reasoning, but if you've got to have an opinion from this
camp, I agree with Patrick as above. As a DXer (yeah, remember that? I do that
too), I find them helpful in IDing a station - not that I'd get much around
here that wasn't from TX or in SS, but it DOES happen on occasion - or if not
in getting an ID, at least getting an idea of where the signal is coming from.
And I've found that I can often DX in public around here if there's a football
game behind the static - I don't get as many "Turn that thing off!"-type
stares! There have been plenty of times here when I thought I was the only one
concentrating on hearing a signal thru some static - I often try to at least
see if I can hear which teams are playing - and I'd give up and move to another
frequency, only to hear "Hey! I was listening to that!" from some person nearby...
