The talk of 'catfish' reminds me of one of Max Shulman's earliest books "The Feather Merchants" where the main character having spent all his 22 years in Minnesota had just been drafted (the
year is 1942) and sent to Ft. Sill Oklahoma for training.  Among his observations of the new (to him) terrain was the fact that the natives actually 'ATE' catfish whereas the state of Minnesota
spent a million $ a year teaching them to swim out of state.  Being from Iowa, I understood.  However, catfish are good eating. We had them all over the place, especially the smaller ones we
called 'bullheads'.
