The biggest, hugest, most important recommendations I will make to you now are:

1. If you are on broadband, put in a software firewall.
2. No matter what kind of connection you are on, install an anti-virus program.
3. Set up a schedule for the anti-virus to update and to run and follow the schedule.

In the long run, these three recommendations will make all the difference in the world as far as using a computer at home.
