Re: [IRCA] Off topic

James, I AM a clueless newbie when it comes to antennas! I've only been
DXing AM for 4 months, with a banged-up Grundig S350 portable I picked up
off of EBay, and am now looking to throw an a cheap home-built antenna on
it.

Thanks to all for their help and advice. There is some difference of
opionion out there on building a transformer and I have a feeling that at
$40 I may just buy one of the ICE matching transformers that are noted
favorably on the web rather than fumble through building my own.

Since my lot is 200 x 200, I can get a bit more distance out of the BOG;
it'll just mean a longer feed line. But I have hundreds of feet of coax
lying around, so no big deal there...

*** A BOG is a receiving antenna. BOG is an acrnym for Beverage On
Ground ( as opposed to elevated ). A Beverage is a long longwire
antenna named after it's discoverer - Harold Beverage.It can be a
highly effective directional antenna if you have the room. At 200'
Dave's is somewhat short.
