Re: [IRCA] 780 KNOM

Doug,

Specificity is hard to argue with.  If you have the data, use it.  Even if they don't verify the report, you gave enough to know conclusively that you heard them if obscure data lines up right.  I wonder if KKOH is setting up for IBOC.  If someone were asleep at the wheel, you would hear OC.  If there's no OC, they have to be doing something with electronics that necessitates shutdowns.

Mike,
I see your points.
You know, the world of computers is really quite something.  Without mine, I wouldn't stand a chance.  I did a net search of my numbers again and it came up with a different listing for the same group of organizations. The Nome listing for the group was identified as "The Bering Sea Womens Group".  I re-queued the tape and that was the first thing the lady said.  I don't think I'm going to get anymore out of the tape though.

On another subject. I wonder what's with KKOH as they've been off two or three times lately.  I even caught my own off twice in the last week. Hmmm.

I would hate to guess how many reports I sent out with a tiny piece of your stated minimum.  The bottom line when reporting is if you can pin down information that you would not be able to guess at occurring at a specific time.  If you got phone numbers that were NOT station numbers listed on their web site, they likely belong to an advertiser or the subject of a PSA.  If they were doing a show on victims of violence, that may be on their web site, but if you could say that it was a female host or a female guest, or provide some otherwise specific information, a two-minute report could be just the right two minutes.

As an example, back in 1980, KNBR (San Francisco) was off the air but had OC running.  They dropped it for about 10 seconds at TOH, and I was incredibly lucky to have a verbatim ID from WCAW in Charleston WV and their temperature.  That 10 seconds was enough because it was so specific.  I'! d say report it!
