Yes, but not with any predictability.  Besides, most were tube type, and
well used-up.  I don't even remember when Conelrad was phased out in favor
of the dual tone system.  Mid to late 70's, perhaps?  I vaguely remember one
at WGNG-550 in 1975.

Some modulation monitors had a carrier failure alarm, too.  They may be more
common.  Many require an external RF amp.  Now that I think of it, the
silver face Belar RF amp output could be rectified and used for this.  There
was an RCA branded version of the same thing.
