Bruce,
Even though the years of hearing SSB are gone, I still do pretty well at
times using the Eastern beverage. I never know, especially on the upper
part of MW (1200-1700), what might pop in. I have set the timer for the
R8/recorder to come on every hour during the night and on 1570 (Before
XERF boosted), all sorts of stuff would pop in. My last really good one
was from last year WTRB-Ripley TN with like 56 watts. Another a couple
back was WLSD-1220-Big Stone Gap, VA (35 watts). But unfortunately a lot
of channels are not clear enough to catch super weak signals. I remember
back in the 90s when I caught the WARV-1590-RI test, including audio ID
and not just the code.; the only other QRM I was getting that morning
was from WAKR-Akron OH. I still look at the radio in disbeief, even
after all these years. hi.
