Re: [IRCA] TAs and West Coast woes

Walt,

What I have to try to fiqure out is why you guys on Vancouver Is are
hearing the TA so much better than I am? We are only 150 miles apart. As
Bill Block reminded me, back in the 60s/70s, he almost always heard
Eastern US stations better than I did. It must be the Coast range. Back
in October when everyone was hearing TAs armchair copy in the West, I
didn't. Only one night did I hear much more than 1314, when I caught
bits on 1323. True I don't have my 400' mini bev to the NNW any longer,
but apparently my other antennas and TA DX does not match. I can hear 50
watt Japanese Lighthouse stations, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and on and
on, but TAs just don't work well here. I do have a bit of hope as the
vertical did bring in France 162 fairly well last night, but with the
wind at 65 MPH, the noise level was terrible. So DX on the coast is not
100% perfect. hi.

Patrick
