No sense stoking debate. R-390's here have audio tapped at DIODE terminal on set rear panel, fed thru blocking cap & resistor into Ampex 1960 studio tape preamp, then into Deerfield Special matched Knight 735's.
16 KHz position on '390 yields beautiful quality audio. For that matter, so does ICF-2010 tapped at Rec Out jack.
That and loops still carry the day over noisome intruders.
