Last night [6 Dec 05] I decided to check out the
NDBs on LW. Nothing there but noise. So I went to AMBC band and
found it full of Mexican and other SS stations. Mexican on 540 kHz with no
sign of CBK. Same story on many freqs up to 1060 with XEEP there with soft
music. No sign of CINF on 690 but KTSM El Paso was there at 0100 CST with
news and I.D. into Coast to Coast. Have not heard KTSM for quite some
time. Back when CBF would sign off at night, then KHEY would be a fairly
regular visitor. CBW was gone from 990 which sounded like a graveyard
freq. 740 had unid ESPN. RVC on 530 had a huge signal. I guess the
auroral donut must have slid down as far as N.E. MN. I thought that stuff
was over with for a while.
I guess I was wrong.
