I'll reply to my own post.
This evening has produced, and is still producing,
the best LWBC audio since back in October when we had decent West Coast TA
conditions. My MW hets never produced any audio, the multiple times I kept
checking them, while 189 Iceland went from poor audio at 0100 utc when I first
checked, to medium/good levels during the 03-0400 utc time. Right now, 0420 utc,
189 is varying between weak and medium. 03-0400 seemed to emphasize pop
vocal music only by females; I didn't hear any male singing! For instance, at
0309 a female vocal of "I Love Christmas" (!), sung in English ended. I've never
heard that song before. Right this instant, 0422, the song "Jolene" is being
sung, with fadeup to medium level.
For a time poor audio on 162 and 171 was briefly
heard too.
My equipment stack currently has 4 radios, with an
audio switch box so I can compare reception on them all. An active lossless
splitter (my own homebrew design) supplies the same signal to all of them, and
an antenna switch selects among several antennas. Lots of fun to do comparison
tests! (R75, 746Pro, R8B, AR7030.)
