[IRCA] TP 17 Oct Victoria version.
Quite a recovery, with several Chinese, but also some Australians at good strength. It was one of those mornings, where plenty was likely to have been missed, especially as there were several channels featuring more than one signal, and with an unusual clarity, even with the noise and splatter doing their best to drown things out. Quite a few signals also lasted well past local sunrise at 1437UT here
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):
594 JOAK woman in Japanese 1437UT
738 2NR man talking //612, half second delay maybe? 1416UT
747 JOIB English lessons 1426UT, its best strength of the morning
774 JOUB English lessons 1406UT; still delivering a good signal at 1510UT when the recording ran out, and 828 and 747 were not far behind.
828 JOBB English lessons 1408UT
972 HLCA man in Korean 1410UT
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
576 2NR, man in DU English 1420UT //846
603 ballad 1411UT; no 558 to grab a parallel., but assumed HLSA
612 4QR teletalk, DU English, 1426UT; //various other ABC at various times
837 woman in Chinese 1416UT; CNR5?
891 JOHK man in Japanese //594; sudden fade up 1417UT
945 CNR1 woman in Chinese 1427UT; ID'd by a couple of parallels, plus CNR1 news sounders after 1430UT
954 JOKR man and woman in Japanese 1423UT
1242 JOLF pop music, woman in Japanese 1428UT
1287 JOHR woman and man in Japanese 1422UT
1566 HLAZ man in Chinese 1433UT; still quite undermodulated
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:
693 JOAB English lessons 1407UT
702 2BL man talking //612 1436UT
711 pop music 1415UT; at 1422UT, there was a woman in what sounded Chinese, plus more pop music, so possibly China / Korea?
873 JOGB English lessons 1414UT
909 JOCB English lessons 1511UT
963 CRI woman in Russian 1419UT
1017 island choral music 1400UT, assumed Tonga
1332 JOSF light rock music, woman in Japanese 1412UT; out of nowhere
1557 RTI assumed, two men in Chinese 1434UT
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)
558 mix of music and woman in Japanese? 1413UT,not //603
567 JOIK various times //594, but never amounted to much today
621 mix of people talking, Chinese intonation, maybe two stations 1410UT
639 CNR1 man mumbling 1417UT //945
756 woman talking, DU English intonation, on west Flag, 1414UT
756 CNR1 another woman talking //945 dominant on north Flag 1415UT
792 man talking, DU English intonation 1411UT
846 2NR man talking //576 1420UT
846 NHK1 man talking //594 1416UT
855 4QO/4QB man talking //612; delayed by about a second; 1417UT
864 generally a mess, couldn't get anything definite out of it
1053 man talking, Japanese intonation, then ballad 1406UT
1098 CNR1 man talking //945 1431UT
1134 quiet talki by man 1413UT, Korean perhaps?
1143 woman talking, Chinese intonation 1424UT
1179 man talking, Japanese intonation 1417UT
1188 JOKP two men talking //594 1424UT
1206 Yanbian? woman talking, Korean possible, 1400UT
1323 CRI woman talking //963 1419UT
1422 man talking, Japanese intonation 1431UT
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)
675 801 918 936 1008 1206 1269 1314 1359 1386 1575 1593 seemed to be Asian;
531 783 882 1098 seemed to be DU
best wishes,
Nick
