[IRCA] TP 18 Aug Victoria version.
Emphasis on Japanese big guns, without much zip really, most of the time audio was just mumbles; any better audio was fleeting.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):
no
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
594 JOAK man and woman in Japanese, briefly at this level 1238UT
612 4QR "This is Night Life....ABC Radio" by woman 1230UT,
828 JOBB man in Japanese 1141UT
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:
747 JOIB English lessons poking through the splash 1243UT
774 JOUB English lessons 1205UT
1566 HLAZ man in Japanese 1231UT ...this seems undermodulated again
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)
702 man talking DU English intonation 1159UT; all but one pip on hour buried by splash; likely 2BL
756 jazzy bass, maybe scat singing? 1155UT; RNZ National?
1017 island vocals 1242UT, likely Tonga
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)
693 864 891972 1143 1206 1287 1323 seemed to be Asian;
567 738 1098 seemed to be DU
best wishes,
Nick
