[IRCA] TP 23 Feb Victoria version

A very oddball morning, Japanese battling with New Zealand at one point (837; where else, though still haven't heard the Filipino on 837 yet.) What party there was, was pretty much over a few minutes after 1500UT today, so virtually everything heard was between 1430 and 1500UT

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

828 JOBB ballad /774 briefly at this level 1459UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

594 JOAK man in Japanese 1437UT
747 JOIB English lessons, quite strong if the 750 splatter ever let up, 1438UT
774 JOUB English lessons1439UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

the above passing through

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

603 R. Waatea pop music seemed to have more of a swing than HLSA usually purveys; sure enough, weak traces of the same music on 765, at 1446UT
612 man talking, DU English intonation
675 RNZ National //837 1444UT
693 JOAB woman talking //774 1445UT
702 man talking, likely DU English, but pop music also there 1441UT
765 R. Kahungunu //603 1446UT....really on the edge of audibility, and slightly offset
837 JOQK man talking //666 1440UT; moments earlier, and a few minutes later, NZ ruled
837 RNZ National man talking; into slow music //675 1444UT
891 JOHK man talking //594 1445UT
1566 man mumbling in a Chinese sort of way 1435UT; never amounted to much this morning

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)
567 864 972 1134 1287 1422   1593 seemed to be Asian;
 531 576 846 1017 1098 1116 1143 seemed to be DU

best wishes,

Nick
