[IRCA] TP 11 Jan Victoria version

The signal strength monitor said that the Asians were jumping prior to about 1330UT. Fairly good still at sunrise, but not as impressive as Alberta conditions perhaps

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

not quite today

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

747 JOIB woman in Japanese //774 1542UT
774 JOUB as above 1542UT
828 JOBB man and woman in Japanese 1518UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

693 JOAB woman and man in Japanese //774 1519UT; nulling CBU helped readability.
972 HLCA man on phone, woman in studio commenting, Korean, 1536UT
1188 JOKP man in Japanese 1601UT; noted //54 at 1606UT with weaker signals
1566 HLAZ woman in Chinese 1602UT; best this could manage, but was still there more weakly 1635UT with apparent Russian

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

594 JOAK piano music followed by woman in apparent Japanese 1604UT; JOAK per //1188 a couple of minutes later 639 CNR1 woman talking //6125 but slightly offset, 1522UT; at 1530UT, definite CNR1 news sounders heard between news items
1242 man talking, Japanese intonation 1601UT
1287 man talking, Japanese intonation 1527UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

567 603 873 891 945 1134  1143 1179  1206  1323 1422  1575 seemed to be Asian;
 nothing seemed to be DU

best wishes,

Nick
