Re: [IRCA] Kona dial tune 0700 U tonight

<<< As described by Gary DeBock, there is a sweet spot at the Royal Kona Resort Motel âat the dug out canoe beside the lagoon...â

No kidding Gary! Very, very little noise.
Quick dial spin revealed early Asian hets and audio from JJ POWERHOUSES... 774 KHz for example... armchair on a modded PL380.

Kiribati on 1440 like a local. >>>

Great to hear about your success, Colin! Actually most of my DXing was done pretty close to the rock wall separating the ocean waves from the lounge area with the easy chairs (that is, a little closer to the ocean than the fake canoe). At that spot I never even heard a trace of RFI-- but if you can set up in one of the easy chairs you can probably escape almost all the RFI as well. You and I both look 100% like tourists... so you are highly unlikely to be approached by any of the Royal Kona staff.

In my 5 days in Kona I never even had to get up at sunrise to chase TP-DX, since I was thoroughly swamped by overpowering Asian signals from 0730-1030 UTC every evening. My main challenge was in preserving my digital recorder time until the end of the trip. Later on tonight I hope to post some links for the "Top 10 Flamethrower TP Signals" heard in Kona-- some of which don't seem to have been heard on the west coast for many years. Rock on!

Gary
