Conditions were poor here this morning. My efforts to conduct side by side testing between the SW Superloop and the new west single KAZ were limited by poor conditions this morning. I am curious to compare the performance of the Superloop vs. the KAZ. Both antennas were routed through the quantum Phaser which incorporates a 10-15 dB amplifier. I will work on testing the antennas without the Phaser.
A very preliminary observation was that the KAZ may be a bit quieter. That may also be attributable to the lower gain of the KAZ. I am plagued by the appearance of spurs from nearby local stations immediately post sunrise. I will also try the KAZ with an extra KB-5 transformer instead of the FLG 100.
DU hets were heard on 594, 612, 702, 738, 774 and 1098 on both antennas. I thought the difference between the two antennas was inconclusive and in need of more testing.
Asian hets were heard on the NW Superloop on 594, 693, 747, 774, 828, 972 and 1566.
