[IRCA] TP 18 Aug Victoria version
Not as vigorous a DU opening, but earlier there was a reappearance of Asians.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
774 JOUB man in Japanese 1155UT
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
576 2NR woman in DU English talking to deep voiced man 1257UT; faded
to ABC fanfare 1300UT
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
594 3WV man DU English very excited, sports broadcast? then cut to
fanfare and "ABC news" 1300UT
603 R. Waatea assumed; slow vocal music 1222UT, not quite the usual
Waatea fare, sounded more like KBS on this channel, but music became
more islandish later. Pretty steady signal for well over 10 minutes
702 2BL, ID'd earlier //612; man on phone talking to woman in studio 1251UT
747 JOIB NHK interlude music and pips 1200UT, then English lessons,
struggling with evil 750 splash
1566 choral music 1237UT; HLAZ assumed
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
585 7RN, traces of the fanfare kicking through 1300UT
594 woman talking, Japanese inflection 1224UT
612 4QR woman and man talking //702 1243UT
621 3RN traces of music creeping through //576 at 1305UT
828 JOBB recognizable English lessons by tones of voices 1201UT
972 man at 1236UT, sounding Korean
1206 woman talking, Korean inflection 1152
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)
873 891 1287 seemed to be Asian;
531 558 567 639 675 738 846 891 1098 1548 seemed to be DU
best wishes,
Nick
