I remember DXing during an eclipse in 1963.  From where I
was in metro-Boston, the enhancement was most noticeable on the upper 
end of the dial with WKBW Buffalo, NY making a particularly strong 
showing on 1520 right next to local WMEX 1510.



 


There was another 
eclipse in the '70s that was not as close to totality and, as a result, 
exhibited less dramatic differences on MW versus regular daytime 
conditions.



 


I will certainly be running some SDR captures during 
the August eclipse even if this area is likely to be affected less than 
some other parts of the US.

Iâm curious as to what DX-ers will be doing during the once-in-a-lifetime 
August eclipse.  How about sharing your plans?

 

I will have a D-Kaz oriented at 340 degrees from North-Central Minnesota, 
with an SDR recording 100 kHz to 1700 kHz.
