[IRCA] a new frontier in antenna development

The last couple of days, we're getting into "wet string as an antenna" territory, as there has been a lot of Asian liveliness on the band around sunrise.

That comment made me think of a tale that David Newkirk (where is he now?) passed on from his father, and it's actually online, thanks to Google Books.

https://books.google.ca/books?id=ZRX9AQAAQBAJ&pg=PA85&lpg=PA85&dq=rod+newkirk+wet+string+antenna+salt&source=bl&ots=-5bkxXTxlv&sig=V54LI6rpTWhkPK77xhVYbacC_g0&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwju_9HepuXSAhVW12MKHTKKDk8Q6AEIGjAA#v=onepage&q=rod%20newkirk%20wet%20string%20antenna%20salt&f=false)

forgive the weird link, but it gets you there.

(it's from the "Rod Newkirk collection" http://www.lulu.com/shop/rod-newkirk/the-rod-newkirk-collection/paperback/product-15240967.html )

It will resonate most if you're a ham or a techie, but a good chuckle nonetheless.

So, who will be the first to log HLAZ using a wet string, somewhat salted?

best wishes,

Nick
