As I have been learning, the challenge may be also traveling with a suitable broadband antenna in order to realize the benefit of an SDR. The DXers who travel by car to sites, such as Rockworks have more options regarding what they can pack than those flying out to the coast. Just a thought.

The Elads and some of the more recent SDRs are physically
quite
small, so can be used on hiking trips or other travel where
not much
luggage can be taken along.  But, it's good to
be able to use a
correspondingly small and power sipping computer under such
circumstances.
