[IRCA] TP 17 Feb Victoria version

Although the big guns were in reasonable form between 1300-1400UT, the most interest was with a brief sunrise opening just before 1500UT, when a number of second tier Japanese popped up. Oddly, HLAZ was MIA today.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK, NHK interlude music, man in Japanese, good on peaks but erratic fades 1456-8UT 774 JOUB end of English lesson 1259UT, pips and into Korean lesson, but fading down.

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

828 JOBB woman and man in Japanese 1308UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

747 JOIB woman in Japanese 1440UT
972 HLCA man and woman in Korean 1301UT
1593 CNR1 man in Chinese 1356UT, (not NHK Chinese lessons), faded down to 6 pips on the hour

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

531 JOQK music //594 1453UT
567 JOIK interlude music //594 1456UT
612 pop music 1509UT, best on west Flag, likely 4QR
702 2BL pop vocal //612 1447UT
756 RNZ national likely with 6 pips, last one longer 1300UT, man talking, DU English inflection
873 JOGB man //747, 1325UT
1116 man talking, DU English inflection, another man on phone, 1440UT 4BC?
1242 man talking, Japanese inflection 1454UT
1386 NHK2 woman talking //774 1456UT, though 774 not much stronger at this time
1422 man talking, Japanese inflection 1455UT
1503 JOUK interlude music //594 1458UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

693 1134 1287 1332 1566 1575 seemed to be Asian; 702 837 891 918 1098 likely DU

best wishes,

Nick
