[IRCA] TP 22Oct Victoria version

More DX missed I'm sure. Lots of strong carriers that might have yielded audio the moment that I tuned away. There were a couple of presumed DUs, but they were afterthoughts. The big guns seem to have been firing away quite early, and my signal strength recorder says that I should have listened past 1500UT if I wanted to hear last gasps.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

747, 774, 828, 972: yes, with 972 being this morning's kingpin
558 HLQH lively pop vocal //603 1423UT, wiping away 560; often quite strong today 567 JOIK wild commercial sounding Japanese talk by man //594 which was weaker, 1335UT; this tended to be the dominant NHK1 this morning 603 HLSA woman in Korean //558, something else underneath 1415UT; immense carrier
1287 JOHR two men in Japanese 1440UT, something under?

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

594 JOAK pop vocal //567 1431UT; this was quite poor today
738 Taiwan assumed, woman in Chinese 1417UT
873 JOGB woman in Japanese //747 1438UT, choral music underneath
891 JOHK jazz //567 1439UT
918 man in Chinese, then woman, briefly this level 1424UT
1053 jammer 1356UT
1566 HLAZ man in Chinese 1442UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

639 CNR1 assumed but no parallel, woman and man in Chinese 1419UT
702 NHK2 man in Japanese //774 1340UT, signal underneath also //774, so 2NR and 3LO most likely
945 quiet instrumental music 1347UT, didn't seem //CNR1 or NHK1
981 CNR1 assumed man in Chinese 1402UT, no parallel

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

585 JOPG pop vocal //594 1433UT
612 4QR likely man DU English inflection 1435UT
657 woman talking in splash, maybe Korean? 1345UT; 650/660 splash is bad here
711 man talking creeping through splatter 1433UT
837 JOQK woman in Japanese //567 1444UT
846 NHK1 man talking //594 1401UT
963 woman talking, perhaps Russian 1349UT
1017 CRI big carrier before the hour, but no audio until CRI chimes heard at 1400UT, as signal faded down
1089 woman talking, not //NHK2, maybe Chinese? 1404UT
1152 NHK2 man in Japanese //774 1412UT
1188 JOKP man in Japanese //594 1409UT
1206 woman talking, sounding Korean? 1338UT
1242 man talking slowly 1401UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter) lots of near audio here

531 621 693 729 819 855 864 882 909 936 1026 1035 1044 1107 1143 1179 1197 1251 1269 1314 1323 1386 1422 1503

best wishes,

Nick
